Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research, and initial case assessments
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and appellate documents and file them with the court
  • Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics etc)
  • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices
  • Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests
  • Gather relevant information from a variety of sources
  • Liaise between trial teams and internal/external third parties

qualifications

  • Proven working experience as a litigation paralegal
  • Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices etc
  • Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail
  • Extensive computer and database expertise
  • Paralegal associates degree or other relevant certification

  • Bachelor’s degree and Paralegal Certificate required, with a minimum of 10 years of experience as a paralegal, specializing in complex transactional and intellectual property matters.
  • Proven experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is essential.
  • Strong patent management skills, including tracking patent cases, file management, and overseeing patent annuity payments, with the ability to effectively liaise with external IP counsel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative legal team, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of legal services across the organization.
  • Proficient in using relevant software applications, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and DocuSign.
  • Experience with contract management systems is highly desirable.
  • This position requires in-office attendance three days per week, with mandatory presence on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The third day in the office can be chosen at your discretion.
